About ME
I’m Alex Abuza, an avid plantswoman and outdoorswoman with a deep love for all things wild. Love for nature and creativity has led me to divide my time between my burgeoning Finger Lakes Flower Farm and the bustling streets of New York City. Wilder Gardens & Flowers is a labor of love, born from the soil and built on a passion for nature.
I design gardens that balance beauty with sustainability, focusing on native plants that support the environment but that are planted in a manner that feels intentional. My floral work centers each client’s vision and is aimed at capturing the essence of a place and moment, using locally-sourced, responsibly foraged flowers as seasonally possible, and composting after events. I work with a diverse clientele, ranging from corporate and non-profit clients to private individuals, from galas to intimate gatherings.
When I’m not designing, you’ll find me exploring the meadows, woods and creeks of Upstate New York, gathering inspiration with my son and husband often by my side.
about MY work
I believe the most inspired designs start with a carefully curated list of materials, and I’m passionate about sourcing locally-farmed and foraged flowers and crafting wild, natural beauty in every arrangement, and focusing on native plants with garden design. At Wilder Gardens and Flowers, we don’t just design — we tell stories. Each project is a reflection of our clients, the season, and the surroundings.
My design journey has taken me from the highest rooftops and the most sprawling meadows, to the interiors of many of New York’s architectural treasures, and I can’t wait to see where it takes me next. Along with a talented and dedicated team of designers, I design flowers for galas and art fairs in some of NYC’s best venues, and for weddings and more intimate celebrations, bringing the same creativity and attention to detail to both. Let’s create something beautiful together!
